Why we’re taking action ⬇️
There has been a lot of excitement around the news that Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca have developed effective vaccines. But there are no guarantees that these vaccines will reach all countries to help end the pandemic globally.
This is because these companies alone cannot supply the whole world and yet their patents and intellectual property means that no one else is allowed to make them and they keep the knowledge of how to make them under wraps.
Faced with limited availability, rich countries have already bought up vaccine doses in advance, leaving poorer countries behind.
What we’re calling for ⬇️
We’re demanding that Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca join the World Health Organisation’s Covid-19 Technology Access Pool (C-TAP). This initiative will help companies to share their patents and share how to make the vaccine with other companies.
By doing this, more manufacturers can make the vaccine at the lowest possible price to ensure there are enough vaccines for all countries and will help end the pandemic for everyone, everywhere.
So far, the companies have refused to join C-TAP and that’s why we want to send them a message that they can’t ignore.
How you can join the day of action ⬇️
On 14 December, you can join people from around the world to bombard Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca with phone calls over the course of one day. We will send you all the information you need to take action. And if you need more or want to ask questions about the action, we will be holding two Zoom calls on the day to talk you through how to take action.
