The Problem

The NHS is facing the greatest crisis in its history. A decade of cuts, staff shortages and privatisation meant that the country’s most important public service was already at breaking point before COVID hit.

Instead of being focused on patients’ health, private healthcare corporations are focused on maximising their profits. Meanwhile pharmaceutical companies increasingly price their medicines so high the NHS simply cannot afford them.

Breast cancer patients like Mel have been forced to fundraise thousands of pounds to pay for their own treatment. Hepatitis C patients like Simon are told to wait until they get sicker before they can be treated.

The COVID pandemic has reminded us all that nothing matters more than health. We believe it’s time for patients to stand up for the NHS.
