The NHS is facing the greatest crisis in its history. Funding cuts, staff shortages and privatisation are putting the country’s most important public service at real risk.
On top of this, increasing numbers of medicines are so expensive - tens of thousands of pounds - that the NHS simply cannot afford them. Breast cancer patients like Mel have been forced to fundraise thousands of pounds to pay for their own treatment. Hepatitis C patients like Simon are told to wait until they get sicker before they can be treated.
It is outrageous that this is happening in the UK in this day and age. Drug companies are holding us ransom, increasing their prices by 10% or more year after year. Just Treatment believes this has to change. We want to force the government to take action to secure fair prices and better medicines by putting patients’ lives ahead of big pharma profits.
